Porcelain stoneware for floors is available in different surface finishes, each characterized by specific levels of slip resistance, designed to meet different usage needs. The higher the R degree of slip resistance, the rougher and more non-slip the surface is.
The latest generation of ItalianGres products offer an ideal balance: they guarantee non-slip properties while maintaining a surface that is pleasantly soft to the touch, easy to clean and sanitize.
R9 and R10: suitable for indoor environments, with surfaces that are practical to maintain, washable and easy to sanitize.
R11 and R12: recommended for uncovered outdoor spaces or areas constantly exposed to water, where cleaning can be done with abundant use of water.
All ItalianGres products are classified in accordance with European regulations. Below you will find a detailed explanation to correctly interpret the two main classes.

| Class | Resistance | Suitable environments |
| R9 | low |

| R11 | high |

A B C Classification (DIN 51097)
Specific class for surfaces walked on with bare feet with the possible presence of water (swimming pools, spas, public showers, changing rooms, etc.)
A → good grip: changing rooms, barefoot access areas
A+B → very good: showers, pool edges
A+B+C → maximum grip: constantly wet areas, submerged stairs or sloping pool edges
| Environment | Area examples | Suggestion |
| Covered interiors | entrance, stairs, kitchen, living area, sleeping area, bathroom, bathroom cladding | You can choose R9 or R10 tiles, depending on the desired level of slip resistance. Both surfaces are pleasant to the touch and easy to clean. |
| Covered exteriors | terrace, balcony and stairs | The use of tiles with an intermediate grade of R10 is recommended. |
| Uncovered exteriors | courtyard, terrace, swimming pool, walkways | The use of non-slip R11 or R12 tiles is recommended, which ensure greater safety even in the presence of wet flooring. |
| Wall tiles | bathrooms, kitchen, shower enclosures | Wall coverings do not require a non-slip classification, on the other hand it is advisable to avoid R11 and R12 to facilitate cleaning operations. |
Covered indoor environments (entrance, stairs, kitchen, living area, sleeping area, bathroom, bathroom cladding):
You can choose R9 or R10 tiles, depending on the desired level of slip resistance. Both surfaces are pleasant to the touch and easy to clean.
Covered outdoor environments (terrace, balcony and stairs):
The use of tiles with an intermediate grade of R10 is recommended.
Uncovered exteriors (courtyard, terrace, swimming pool, walkways):
The use of non-slip R11 or R12 tiles is recommended, which ensure greater safety even in the presence of wet flooring.
Products with a lapped or polished finish do not have non-slip characteristics and are therefore not classified. However, they can be used as flooring, but exclusively in environments where the presence of water is not expected. The use of glossy surfaces in bathrooms, showers or areas subject to humidity is not recommended.
